The Information Technology AAS-T combines computer support, network support, and system/network administrators to prepare students with strong IT backgrounds. In the field of Information Technology, Computer Support Technicians are the specialists who manage an organizations PCs, laptops, thin clients, handheld devices, and associated peripheral components. These specialists install, configure, and upgrade PCs, laptops, and related equipment; diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software problems; perform preventive maintenance; and install required software updates. They establish and maintain the connectivity of client computer systems to the local area network (LAN) and to the Internet. They provide network and local printing resources and support a wide array of computer accessories that keep workers productive in the modern work environment. In addition to technical skills, PC specialists need strong people skills and the ability to listen to end users' concerns and needs actively. They also need strong time management skills and the ability to document hardware, software, and network problems and their associated solutions for future reference. The Information Technology degree was designed to prepare a student for a career in network administration, help desk, PC support, or many related job roles. The intent of this AAS-T degree is to provide you with a balanced technical background in information technology while earning valuable industry certifications from Cisco and CompTIA. You will be building in a greater number of college-transferrable credits to provide transfer efficiency. This degree is designed specifically for transfer to Central Washington University's Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Information Technology and Administrative Management (ITAM), currently offered at CWU Lynnwood.
