The Associate in Applied Sciences-Transfer degree in Nursing is designed to prepare students for careers in public and private health care sectors. Shoreline Community College works closely with local advisory committees and industry professionals to ensure students receive the knowledge and skills currently in demand by employers in the field. The Nursing Program prepares individuals to become Registered Nurses. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in natural and social sciences and an understanding of patient care in a variety of settings. Throughout the program, students integrate experience caring for patients in acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities and community agencies. Graduates receive an Associate in Applied Sciences- Transfer degree in Nursing. After graduation, individuals must take and pass the NCLEX-RN examination to be licensed by the State as a Registered Nurse. Licensed graduates are qualified for employment as entry level staff nurses in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, doctors offices and home care agencies and to coordinate patient care provided by a nursing team.
