If you like doing lab experiments and are strong in science and math, a degree in chemistry could be the right choice for you. In this program, you'll learn about matter and energy down to the molecular level. Courses build a solid foundation in general chemistry and develop your understanding of the scientific method of experimentation, observation and analysis of results. You'll also gain hands-on experiences in the lab. Often called the "central science" a degree in chemistry is excellent preparation for careers in a variety of fields, such as pharmacy, environmental sciences, chemical engineering, biotechnology, nutrition, medicine, dentistry and others. This pre-major program prepares you to continue your education by transferring to a four-year college or university at a junior standing.
